Procrastination

“Oh, I don’t have to worry about it now, I still have another week to study.”

This is a thought that often crosses the mind of many students to avoid facing the reality of an approaching deadline. As a senior in college, I have had many experiences that have lead me to believe that procrastination is often more harmful than beneficial. Moreover, this process of thinking actually interrupts our ability to learn and to grasp the material because it allows us to leave assignments to the last minute. For example, many of us students, will resort to start writing a term paper the night before it is due. Similarly, others will start studying for a test the evening before the exam only to realize that they will not have enough time, so they stay up all night. When we give ourselves a very limited time to finish an assignment the quality of it is compromised because we are too busy being overwhelmed by panic and anxiety. Thus, often we fail to fully comprehend what we are learning.
